I bought a bass accordion from my accordion guru, Aldo Mencanini, and told Jim and
he asked me to play it for him over the phone and proceeded to write this song for us to play
together. It is called Snowbound becuase there was a terrible snow storm the day we recorded
and John Snyder couldn't make it into the studio so Jim's wife Jane, produced the track.
2. Viva Caruso
Joe invivted me to play on his tribute to Enrico Caruso, and I did for the first time on record, a solo
which involved melody parts in both hands.
This is from the record that I co-produced with Linda Goldstein, Bobby's manager and long time friend
and musical co-conspiritor, called Beyond Worlds. I played electric piano and accordion on a few tracks
and this track was one of my favorites.
4. And It’s Supposed to Be Love
I loved playing accordion on this record and a joy to phrase in the breaths of this magnificent singer.
I arranged and played accordion on this record for Juliette Greco. I was honored to play with this French
master who worked with the greatest accordionists of all time. I recorded this track, moments after Mike
Brecker had come in to play a scorching solo: weeks before we would record his final project, Pilgrimage.
It's sometimes impossible to play after Mike let's loose, but this day, it was just inspiring.
